UponArriving will be getting a little bigger soon, and I’m looking to add a couple of folks who will contribute as authors.
As this site grows, the goal is to work towards employing full-time but for the time being, this will be more of a part-time venture.
Here’s what I’m looking for:
Passion for helping/teaching
I’m looking for someone who enjoys helping to walk people though the learning process of whatever it is they are writing about.
Whether it’s showing someone the top things to do in Mexico City, highlights of the Louvre, or the top benefits of a credit card, I want someone who is willing to strive to create one of the most helpful pieces of content available to the public on that topic.
I tend to be pretty focused on nuts and bolts in my articles, but it’s okay if you like to inject a little more personality in your writing style — I’m not looking for carbon copies here.
Strong Researcher and Writer
Strong research and writing skills are a must.
Articles on UponArriving are regularly 2,500 to 3,000+ words and are aimed to be as thorough and helpful as possible.
So I’m looking for someone who enjoys getting down deep into the details and is capable of putting together comprehensive overviews of various topics.
I’ll provide outlines for articles in the beginning to help you develop the style I’m going for. Eventually, the plan is for you to adopt that style to any topic.
Miles and points/travel knowledge
If you have in-depth knowledge of the miles and points world, that’s a huge plus.
But if you have more generalized knowledge about travel, you can still be considered.
Articles will vary on subject matter.
But topics will consist of:
- Credit card rewards
- Things to do in “X City,” attraction reviews, etc.
- Reviews of hotels, airlines, products
- Various other travel-related topics
SEO Knowledge
SEO knowledge is a plus, but I can train you with everything you need to know about SEO (unless you know more than I do).
How to apply
You need to send the following 4 items:
- A short paragraph (3 to 4 sentences) describing yourself (interests, occupation, hobbies, etc.)
- A short paragraph (3 to 4 sentences) on why you think you’ll be a good fit for UponArrving.com.
- Evidence of strong research and writing skills (this can be a prior article, a resume, etc).
- Your location (country, state, city, etc.)
