The Crunch Cup is a nifty little invention that you can find on Amazon. It is a great product for anybody who loves cereal and struggles with eating it on the go or dealing with soggy cereal bites. But is it worth it and how exactly does this little thing work? In this article, I will give you a full breakdown of the Crunch Cup.
What is the Crunch Cup?
The Crunch Cup is a simple two-cup device used to consume cereal on the go. You can find these on Amazon for around $25 and they come in various colors and in two sizes. (In this article, I am reviewing the XL.)
This can be a perfect product if you find yourself wanting to eat cereal in the car on the way to work or school. Also, if you have a certain type of cereal that is much better when it is crunchy rather than soggy then you can use this to ensure that every bite is full of its crunch potential.
How does the Crunch Cup work?
The Crunch Cup works very simple.
Basically, you have milk in the outer cup and your cereal in a smaller inner cup. They are designed in a way so that the cereal and milk will hit your mouth simultaneously, allowing you to enjoy a crunchy bite of cereal with every bite. It’s a pretty cool concept.
Setting up the Crunch Cup is easy but it can seem a little confusing when you first unbox it.
The first thing to do when you receive your package is obviously to wash the lids and cups.
After that, you can start by pouring your milk (assuming that’s what you eat cereal with) into the outer cup.
There is a line marked on the cup and you want to make sure that you do not fill up the cup much higher than that because you might not be able to insert the inner cup without spilling your milk.
At this point, you will be ready to insert/attach the inner cup and pour your cereal into the inner cup.
Next you will attach the white cap onto the lid and snap into place.
At that point you are ready to go!
The one drawback to this product is that there is no cover for the lid. So there is spill potential and if you are taking it on the go there is potential for something to fall in it. For that reason, while this product could be great for kids, with no lid it does have its limits.
The key with this product is to learn how to simultaneously get the milk and cereal out in a way that does not leave milk all over your face or clothes (that’s exactly what happened to me in the first couple of attempts).
There are a few ways to do this.
The first is that you can simply cover the spout where the milk comes out with your lip. That could work but another way is to cover the small air hole on the lid with your finger until you are ready for the milk to come out.
Ultimately, you may just have to practice to get this technique down. To me, after using it a few times it still feels like “work” to use this. In a way, it is kind of nice to have to “work” for your reward but it’s not something I think I want to do all the time.
And it might be too difficult for small kids to get the technique down so that is something to consider.
By the way, if these details and instructions sound confusing don’t worry, you will receive a set of instructions when you receive the product.
The product is dishwasher safe and it seems like it is relatively durable so I expect this thing to be in good condition for a while. I also received confirmation that it has a two year warranty so that should make you feel good about the product for a little while.
Overall, the product is a little bit expensive at $25 but it’s not that bad. If you had to make me guess what the price was without knowing I would probably guess something like $18.
Still, this is the type of perfect gift that you can buy for someone who loves cereal. It could also be a great white elephant gift or something along those lines.
The Crunch Cup does not come with cereal included so you might want to order some cereal along with your product on Amazon if you want to be ready to use it when you receive it.
Final word
Overall, I think the Crunch Cup is a fun product that does have some level of practicality to it. If you eat a lot of cereal, especially on the go, then this could be a perfect solution. Also, if you want to preserve the crunchiness of your cereal this can also do the trick. And finally, if you are trying to find a gift for someone who loves cereal then you can look no further than the Crunch Cup. Just be ready to do a little bit of work for your cereal.
