The new 2019 IHG Promotion is out! And it’s a little bit different this year, at least in name. Typically, IHG offers “IHG Accelerate” offers which are special offers that come in different forms to different people. Think of them as targeted offers that go out to the masses, offering all sorts of different value propositions.
The new IHG Promotion
The new IHG Promotion is called “Free Nights. Faster” and is basically the same type of Accelerate promotion but with a different name.
You’ll get a series of different types of offers that will each earn you a certain amount of points upon completion. And then there’s usually a bonus attached to the offer so that if you complete 3 out of 4 or 4 out of 4 challenges, you get an additional bonus (which can be pretty big).
For example, I was offered the following:
- 1,000 after booking a stay from the IHG app
- 2,000 after staying 4 nights
- 3,000 after staying at two brands
- 4,000 after staying 3 weekends (Sat + Fri or Sun)
- 10,000 after completing 3 of 4
- 20,000 after completing 4 of 4
The total for my promo adds up to 40,000 points, which is the minimum for the promotion but not terribly enticing overall. However, some people have received much more lucrative offers with the total bonus points up in the 90K or 100K range.
Some of these requirements can be met with one stay so you can kill two birds or three birds with one stone — or as some would have us say “feed two birds with one scone.”

Final word
These promos can be worthwhile. In some cases, you’ll only need to make about 3 or 4 stays to cash in on a lot of rewards. If you have the new IHG card, you’ll be able to rack up even more points, as it’s one of the most rewarding hotel spend cards out there earning 10X at IHG properties.

I like how most of them overlap making it easy to get most of the promos without much thought.
