American Express has two great offers out right now for their Amex Delta credit cards. There’s a 60K offer for the Gold Delta SkyMiles® Credit Card from American Express and a 70K offer for the Platinum Delta SkyMiles® Credit Card from American Express. While I’m not a fan of the Delta SkyMiles program, these offers are high enough and present enough value that I would still consider applying for them.

Better offer for the 60K Offer
As I write in my article how to find the best credit card offers, it’s always a great idea to test out “dummy bookings” for better credit card offers. Basically, you go through all the steps for booking a flight online and just before you get to checkout (and actually process the payment) you sometimes see an ad for a targeted credit card offer. In order to access these applications, you don’t have to process the booking, so you don’t have to worry about paying for a hotel room or a flight.
In this case, you’ll see a better offer for the Delta Gold card with a $100 statement credit instead of the $50 credit. All you have to do is go to Delta.com and on the “Book a Flight” page enter in the information in the search fields for the flight (one way or roundtrip). After that proceed to the next page where you will select a flight to advance to the next screen. )I selected a first class fare but I doubt that’s required.)
On the bottom of the screen you should be able to see the ad which looks like the image below. this method may not work for everyone but I’d give it a try a couple of times and probably try private browsers if it doesn’t work.
You do not have to use the $100 credit on a Delta flight. Instead, you’ll have four months to utilize it on a qualifying Delta purchase and many have had success purchasing gift cards from Delta.com and being reimbursed. While the terms state that it could take 8 to 12 weeks to receive your credit, in practice this credit often applies within a matter of days.
The offer
The offer is identical to the standard public offer except that it comes with a $100 statement credit. As a refresher, this is what the Delta Gold card comes with:
- 60,000 miles after you spend $3,000 in purchases within your first 4 months
- $100 statement credit after you make a Delta purchase with your new Card within your first 4 months.
- $95 annual fee waived the first year
- 2X on Delta purchases
- 1X on genera purchases
- No Foreign Transaction Fees
- Offer expires on 7/5/17
Final word
This is a very solid offer considering you can avoid the annual fee in year and pocket $100 in the form of a statement credit. But don’t go stressing over this application if you don’t think you have any use for Delta SkyMiles right now or you want to apply for other cards. The offer will almost certainly be back, probably within a year’s time.
