The American Airlines AAdvantage program is offering a solid promotion right now for earning up to 10,000 miles. I like this promotion because although it requires purchases from four partners, the partners mostly involve merchants that many of us were already planning on using in the coming weeks with Mother’s Day approaching.
Here’s how it works:
You have until June 15, 2017 to complete transactions with four different AAdvantage partners to earn up to 10,000 miles. The four partners that are a part of this promotion are:
- 1-800-Flowers
- AAdvantage eShopping ($50 minimum in a single transaction)
- AAdvantage dining ($25 minimum in a single transaction)
- Vinesse Wines
The number of miles you will earn will depend on the number of partners that you transact with.
- Transact with 2 partners, earn 2,000 bonus miles
- Transact with 3 partners, earn 5,000 bonus miles
- Transact with all 4 partners, earn 10,000 bonus miles
This promotion can work in conjunction with other promotions to maximize your earning and here’s how:
1-800-Flowers
- Amex Offer: $15 back on $50
- OMAAT writes that “At the moment American is offering 30 miles per dollar spent with 1-800 Flowers if going through this link and using promotion code A54.” (Note: I’m not sure what effect using that link would have on your eligibility for this promo).
- $15 off and possibly 30 miles per dollar for flowers you may have already planned on ordering for Mother’s Day is definitely a solid grab.
AAdvantage eShopping
- $50 minimum in a single transaction
- You can find just about anything on the AAdvantage Shopping Portal so hitting $50 for an item you would’ve purchased anyway shouldn’t be difficult for many people
- 1-800-Flowers is a merchant on the shopping portal but attempting to meet both of these requirements at the same time may not work, so it’s probably best to purchase an additional product.
AAdvantage dining
- $25 minimum in a single transaction
- It’s not hard to find a decent restaurant in the AAdvantage dining program near most major cities. Since many people regularly eat out and spend $25 per outing this should be very doable for a lot of people.
- The current sign up offer for new members is the following:
- Earn 1,000 AAdvantage bonus miles
by spending $25 or more at any participating restaurant. - Earn 500 AAdvantage bonus miles
by spending $25 or more on your second participating restaurant visit. - Earn 500 AAdvantage bonus miles
by spending $25 or more on your third participating restaurant visit.
- Earn 1,000 AAdvantage bonus miles
- So that’s an easy additional 1,000 miles for new members.
Vinesse Wines
- You’ll be charged ~$42 (including shipping) for your first order of six wines
- Earn 3,000 miles with your first shipment, 3,000 miles with your second shipment, plus earn 5 miles per dollar spent with every shipment thereafter
- This is a subscription service but you can cancel after your first month’s delivery so that you earn the the first bonus of 3,000 miles
- The wine probably isn’t great but you can always give it away if you wish.
For many people, this promo may only result in an additional $42 worth of purchases from Vinesse Wines. In that case, it’s a bargain: $42 for 13,000+ AAdvantage miles. If you value AA miles at around 1.5 cents per point, that’s about $200 worth of value.
