Citi is offering a possibly targeted promotion where you can use your Citi Premier card to earn 5X on certain purchases (up to 2,500 points) up until June 30, 2017. You must register to be eligible for the promotions by May 31, 2017.
The promotion states:
HERE’S HOW IT WORKS:Use your Citi ThankYou® Premier Card to earn 5 ThankYou® Points per $1 spent on purchases you make at home improvement stores, home furnishing stores, computer & electronics stores and department stores.1Earn up to 2,500 points, now through 06/30/2017
- Home Improvement Stores are classified as merchants that primarily sell hardware, appliances and/or tools for home repair and remodeling.
- Home Furnishing Stores are classified as merchants that primarily sell furniture for homes.
- Computer & Electronics Stores are classified as merchants that sell, repair or lease a wide variety of electronic goods, including computer hardware, software and related equipment.
- Department Stores are classified as merchants that provide a general line of merchandise from departments that usually have separate checkout counters.
Overall, the 5X is nice but the cap on 2,500 points earned means you can only spend up to $500, so this is not a terrific promotion, although if you already had plans to make purchases in the eligible categories it’s not a bad bonus.
